News - December 2007
The Ayrshire Phiharmonic Concert Party completed its first engagements on the 8th and 9th of December at the Burns National Heritage Park in Alloway with a varied programme of traditional carols and rounds. The concerts featured some delightful harmonies in the lovely "Once Upon A Winter Night" and charmed their audiences with the lovely "Huron Indian Carol". The concerts were beautifully led by musical director Isabella Dovaston who played piano and enhanced by the percussion accompaniment of Tom McCarroll.

APOS were made most welcome by the staff at Burns National Heritage Park and are delighted to have been asked to participate in future events there. The concert party were delighted to meet Miss A. Fulton, the society's contact with Prestwick Cancer Research UK, for whom a collection was taken on both days. Sharron Clark, one of our committee members and also an employee of Barclays Bank, arranged for special sponsorship under which the bank contributes one pound for every pound raised. A total of £460 was received by the charity.

President of Prestwick Cancer Research, Lesley Hunter and committee member Katie Scott, were introduced tothe concert party and the other members of APOS, including President Ian McGaffney, who had come to offer support.

In spite of some initial nervousness, the members of the concert party were delighted with the positive response to their first outings.
